You are so OLD!

Andrew spent a week in L.A., leaving me on my own to keep the littles fed, clothed (more or less), and happy (also slightly subjective).

To ensure a little adult interaction, I planned a girls’ night over the weekend.

Being overly excited about the upcoming event, I was thrilled when my brother-in-law asked if I had any big plans for the weekend. The conversation went like so:

Pat:  Do have any big plans over the weekend?

Me:  YES! I’m having a few friends over Saturday night and we’re gonna do crafts!

Pat:  Oh my gosh.

(silence…..)

You are SO OLD!!! Do you need me to drop off some elbow macaroni and pipe cleaners?!

Whatever.  I bet Pat spent his Saturday night just wishing he was doing crafts with us.

😉

After a few days of shameless anticipation, the evening arrived. For starters, we had some food and drinks.

The pita pizza bar was a hit- we piled various toppings on our Flat Out wraps and cooked them on the panini press like quesadillas. Homemade pizza sauce, shredded cheese, pepperoni, ham, pineapple, spinach, feta, goat cheese, tomatoes, and green onions made the list of possible toppings.

We also had a veggie tray, chips, pretzels, peanuts, and pumpkin cookies. Add to it some Sangria and you’ve got yourself a happening little girls’ night!

With food, drink and conversation out of the way (momentarily),  we dug out our crafts.

Lisa worked on a Christmas stocking that’s only been 5 years in the making (ha!), Bevin created pages for her daughter’s Quiet Book, Shannon got a head start on Christmas cards (that crafty little devil is creating homemade cards!), and I made pom poms for my winter wreath (that may or may not have been started two years ago).

The little girls painted canvases with sponge stamps and made fruit loop necklaces.

In the end, Steph stole the show with her tukey shirt for Kaleb:

We had an awesome time.

Laugh your socks off, Pat! You’ll thank me for setting aside this craft time when you open your stylish new pom pom wreath on Christmas morning!
