Pumpkin Patchin’

When I signed Livy up for preschool, there was one thing I was most excited about:

Field trips!

OK, that’s actually a lie.  I was most excited about holiday parties and bringing in treats for all the kids.

You know, over-the-top treats like these:

or these:

for this week’s Halloween party.

But guess what? Silly food allergies have put a snafoo in my plans. You can’t take homemade treats to classroom parties anymore!

I know, it’s a good thing with the severe allergies kids have to things like peanuts or wheat that are so often found in treats, but now I can’t be that mom.  At least not when it comes to school treats.

I decided instead to focus my excitement on FIELD TRIPS!

The first field trip of the year was to Faulkner’s Pumpkin Patch. What an amazing place! Memac went with us, which was great because Ryan tagged along, so the extra set of hands was necessary.  Livy thought it was awesome to be outside of school with her teachers and friends!

Here we go!

Livy got to sit by her friends (twins!) Miles and Ainsley for Scarecrow Story Time:

We went through the corn maze, but she hated it! She thought the ground was messy and didn’t appreciate the stalks brushing against her face or sticking in her hair.

But! Leave it to my girl to find hope in the face of despair. She found the missing letter V!  🙂

Memac took her into the petting zoo. Livy kept her hands tightly clenched behind her back to let everyone know she would not be touching any animals. Ew. I mean, talk about filth!  😉

We finally made it to the park area for free play where she found this cool horse swing:

and where Memac helped her race her duck in the water trough:

There was so much more that didn’t get photographed, like a hayride, pumpkin picking, caterpillar climbing and maybe even a slight melt down over extreme hunger. We were able to end the day on a high note, however, when Memac saved the day by treating us to a hot dog, potato chip and cold Coke picnic lunch at the patch.

One field trip down, approximately 187 left to go.

I can’t wait!
